An undercover drug operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and University Police led to the arrest of 18 San Diego State students today and 15 students in the last few weeks.
Several fraternity members of Theta Chi were among those arrested.
Over $100,000 worth of drugs including marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy were confiscated on and around the SDSU campus during Operation Sudden Fall which has resulted in the arrest of nearly 100 individuals during the past year. Four pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana were among the evidence seized.
"SDSU will continue to do what is necessary - through both enforcement and education - to encourage our students to make the responsible choices to ensure the health and safety of our campus community," SDSU President Stephen Weber said.
Weber also commended the University Police and the undercover DEA agents who helped bring about the largest university drug take down in San Diego history.
Phi Kappa Psi was the other fraternity involved in the drug sales, Mosler said.
Mosler said that these were mid-level drug dealers with connections to the Tijuana cartel.
"We are not going to tolerate drug trafficking in our universities or our educational institutions," said Jesse Navarro, public affairs officer for the district attorney's office.

Dudes, what a bummer. This will seriously disrupt the festivities at graduation.

50 pounds of marijuana? $100,000?
This is supposed to be impressive? I'd like to see a campus the DEA couldn't find 50 pounds of pot on.

"Theta Chi was primarily a cocaine-selling fraternity," has to be the funniest thing I have read in a while.

What a large cloud of shame Theta Chi has cast on its members & families. I hope this sets an example for every student. Those guilty will have a lifetime to endure this horrific experience. (Continued…)

It's not as if "SDSU" invokes the most prestigious connotation as it is. This affects all of us; the general public's perception of a school can be both rational and visceral. (Continued…)

Sometimes bros bro out so hard they get themselves arrested! I like the mugshots, but they're missing backwards baseball caps and cargo shorts.
Surf's up, San Diego!

This is nothing new at State. I graduated from State in the 80's when there was a great wall of silence around a gang rape of a young woman and a lot drug & alcohol related stuff. (Continued…)

I'm very disappointed. I feel like the degree I worked for years to obtain as well as the degrees of the "better" 40,000 of us is going to be rendered as a joke and lacking credibility. (Continued…)

I am very disappointed of the shameful acts these people shed upon my great university! When I attended and graduated (yes, we partied) we loved to have some beer at Monty's when Monty's was Monty's! Never were we considered a school of 1 oz coke dealers! I wear a bunch of different SDSU shirts at the gym: can't wait to see the response I get. (Continued…)

Any of you students who think this is funny stop to consider the diminished value your degree now has? You'll be faced with years of "Oh, you went to that school. (Continued…)
